About Us

Our Mission

The Cheat Lake Fire department is committed to providing fire protection and emergency services to our 56 sq mile community. Our rapidly developing area is home to over 19,000 residents comprised of near 9,000 homes. We are home to multiple industrial and growing economic complexes as our, once upon a time small town, continues to expand.

Who We Are

We are everyday citizens of our great community with many upbringings to bring to the table. We are a proud, tough-in-nature kind with soft hearts for those in need. Comprised through member’s volunteerism and resilience, we continue to persistently work in our community, for our community. Trained in a broad variety of fire rescue backgrounds, our members work to enrich their knowledge to better react to emergency needs.

What is a Volunteer Fire Department

At the core, it is a 501(c)3 charity devoted to fire protection, but our volunteers make up the foundation. Not one of our members receives any financial compensation. Members raise the money needed to purchase trucks and equipment, pay the electric bill, purchase fuel, and finance training. When called, our fire fighters report to the station to grab a truck and needed gear to respond to all emergencies.
